AMED – Despite police obstruction, the Democratic Institutions Platform held a march in Amed against the ongoing attacks on North and East Syria. During the march, slogans such as “The Kurdish people are here, standing with Rojava” were chanted.

The Democratic Institutions Platform organized a protest march against the attacks carried out by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Turkey-backed paramilitary groups targeting North and East Syria. The march was attended by Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chairs Çiğdem Kılıçgün Uçar and Keskin Bayındır, representatives of political parties and civil society organizations, as well as numerous citizens. Police attempted to block the march.

In response to the obstruction, the crowd chanted slogans in unison, including “The Kurdish people are here, standing with Rojava,” “Bijî berxwedana Rojava (Long live the resistance of Rojava),” “Bijî Serok Apo (Long live Leader Apo),” “Bijî berxwedana QSD (Long live the resistance of the SDF),” “Bijî berxwedana YPJ (Long live the resistance of the YPJ),” “Jin, jiyan, azadî (Women, life, freedom),” “Rojava will be the grave of fascism,” “Youth are Apo’s fedayeen,” and “Women, youth, Kurdistan,” while singing resistance songs.

Following this, the crowd set off from in front of the Human Rights Monument in Koşuyolu Park, marching amid ululations and slogans through many streets and directions of the Rezan (Bağlar) district. Police intervened in the marches using tear gas. Police assaulted many people, including members of parliament from the Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party, and detained numerous individuals through the use of force. After breaking through police blockades, the crowd later dispersed.
