NEWS CENTER - İmralı Delegation members Mithat Sancar and Pervin Buldan visited imprisoned politicians Selahattin Demirtaş and Selçuk Mızraklı after Parliament passed the framework law.

DEM Party İmralı Delegation members Mithat Sancar and Pervin Buldan visited former HDP Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş and former co-mayor of Amed Metropolitan Municipality Selçuk Mızraklı at the Edirne High-Security Prison, where they are being held.

The delegation issued a written statement on the visit, saying that Demirtaş and Mızraklı were in high spirits and sent their regards to everyone.

The statement said that Demirtaş and Mızraklı were briefed on the framework law and the latest developments in the Peace and Democratic Society Process, and that their views were sought. It added that Demirtaş and Mızraklı stressed the importance of all sides contributing to the implementation of the framework law. The statement said: “As we have always said, our friends should not be deprived of their freedom for even an hour. This is required by both the principles of justice and the nature of the process. Ending the unlawful treatment that Demirtaş and other politicians in prison have been subjected to for years would, particularly as the framework law opens the door to a new period, make an important contribution to establishing the peace and democracy we all need.”
