ANKARA - Wan MP Pervin Buldan, Riha MP Mithat Sancar and Asrin Law Office lawyer Faik Özgür Erol, who are part of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party Imrali Delegation, set off for Imrali Island to meet with Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan.
The delegation's visit will be the first meeting after the establishment of the Commission on National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy in the Parliament. Abdullah Öcalan is expected to give important messages to the delegation regarding the activities of the commission and the disarmament process.
The İmralı Delegation, including Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Pervin Buldan, first met with Abdullah Öcalan on 28 December 2024. The second meeting of the delegation was held on 22 January. İmralı Delegation members Pervin Buldan and Sırrı Sureyya Önder, DEM Party Co-chairs Tuncer Bakirhan and Tülay Hatimoğulları, politician Ahmet Tğrk, MP Cengiz Çiçek and Faik Özgür Erol met with Abdullah Öcalan. In this meeting, Öcalan made his historic Call for Peace and Democratci society.
On 21 April, while Sırrı Süreyya Önder was being treated for a heart attack, Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol met with Abdullah Öcalan as the İmralı Delegation. Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol from the İmralı Delegation held a new meeting with Abdullah Öcalan on 18 May following the Kurdistan Worker's Party (PKK)'s historic congress held on 5-7 May.
The İmralı Delegation, which included DEM Party Riha MP Mithat Sancar along with Pervin Buldan and Faik Özgür Erol, went to the island on 6 July and held a meeting. The Imrali delegation held the last meeting on 25 July.
