ANKARA - Speaking at the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, Özlem Külahçı Tanaman, representative of DOGÜNKAD, said that Kurds' quest for peace is not only about the silencing of the guns, and that an honourable peace is the most authentic guarantee that strengthens social unity.
The 11th meeting of the National Solidarity, Brotherhood and Democracy Commission, which was established in the Parliament for the democratic solution of the Kurdish issue, continues.
Speaking at the first session of the meeting, Özlem Külahçı Tanaman, representative of the Eastern and Southeastern Business Women's Association (DOGÜNKAD), pointed out that the conflicts have shaken not only politics but also social life, culture, education and economy.
Özlem Külahçı Tanaman said that the Kurds' quest for honourable peace also includes their demands for the liberation of identities. Referring to the importance of the commission, she said: "The main issue for us is that this process should not be limited to non-conflict, but should evolve into lasting peace, democracy and economic development."
"The biggest guarantee of peace is the constitutional ground" she said and emphasised that peace will also have positive economic developments.
